Looking for New Members!

Could we interest you in joining a group of citizens who have pride in the community and enjoy providing support and service to the Cottage Grove Police Department?

Do you have at least one hour each month to meet with this team to plan and develop new ideas that will provide the support that in 2007 brought Blitz to Cottage Grove?

The Cottage Grove Crime Board, a non-profit organization that provides support to the Cottage Grove Police Department is recruiting additional members.

The Crime Prevention Board provides support to the department for the McGruff program, Take S.T.O.C.K. (Solutions to Offer Community Kids), Neighborhood Watch, and the School Resource Officer Program. In addition, funds are raised by the board for officer training scholarships that pay for supplement department authorized training, and supplemental officer equipment.

Working closely with the Cottage Grove Police Department, the Crime Prevention Board funds the monetary rewards offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for committing crimes in cottage Grove and the gift cards awarded to individuals who provide assistance to the Police and Public Safety Department.

In 2007, the board focused on raising funds for the K-9 Fund. That successful venture established the first dog and officer team for the community. Blitz and K-9 officer Mike Vandervort are now in service in Cottage Grove. Having our own K-9 unit reduces the need to call on other departments with a K-9 in service for support.

If you are interested, would like more information or an application, please contact Officer Gail Griffith, Cottage Grove PD liaison officer to the board (651-458-0625 or ggriffith@cottage-grove.org)  or click on the "About Us" link on this website.  Membership is open to volunteers who live or work in the community.
Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at Cottage Grove City Hall.
